Soul Food Café enjoyed 18 wonderful, challenging and blessed years at Redwood Park Shopping Centre and many, many staff, volunteers, customers and friends have passed through our doors and helped create our history.

While we served up light meals, delicious cakes and amazing coffee, the café was primarily a place for people to connect. Our play area and affordable menu made Soul Food an especially family friendly place, as well as being a favourite haunt of retirees and of parents dropping kids off to school.

Pre- covid, Soul Food was well known for our weekend buffet breakfast, bacon and egg rolls, and awesome iced drinks.

As well as our customer community, there was always a strong team of staff and volunteers who were making it all happen and forming strong connections of their own. Soul Food has been a launching pad for many a young person’s career, a place for volunteers needing somewhere to belong, and a place for students to gain confidence through work experience.

The café was also home to our Community Meals Program, to The Table on Sunday nights and to various other groups over the years including a board games group.

We miss our café space. So many people from Redwood Park and the community beyond have shared special memories with us of Soul Food Community Café and we are so glad to have been a part of so many lives.

Although the café has closed, the Soul Food Community lives on, seeking to continue to be a place of belonging and welcome in the Redwood Park Community.
